Celebrate the Print '10

September 1 - 24, 2010

Opening Reception: Friday, September 3 from 6pm - 9pm, awards at 7pm

Come to the Lawrence Street Gallery during the month of October to see the work of approximately 40 of the area's premier printmakers participating in an exhibition juried by Zdzislaw Sikora, Professor of the Printmaking Department and Print Media Section Chair of the Fine Arts Department at The College for Creative Studies in Detroit, Michigan. He has exhibited his prints nationally and internationally and is represented in many collections throughout the world.

"Many persons are not aware of the variety of printmaking processes and the possibilities that can be explored by artists using this medium," say show organizers Laura Host, Judy St. John and Sherry Adams Foster. Visitors will have chance to learn about the various types of printmaking such as lithographs, etchings, monoprints, engravings, woodcuts, etc.

The opening reception September 3, 6-9 p.m., is free and open to the public, to enjoy light refreshments while meeting many of the printmakers themselves. The awards ceremony will occur at 7pm

"This exhibit exemplifies nature in its boldest form and color while featuring my newest Oil paintings on canvas. In 'Nature 2 Nature' I share with you the bold, vivid tropical and exotic imagery as I see them. Each canvas is a porthole into a rarely seen world which can offer a hint of a story or maybe a touch of whimsy."
